The concept of "global university" is rapidly taking shape many U.S. universities set up campuses abroad, offering American degrees.

Among the universities, as in the campus of the University of New York to Abu Dhabi, which is expected to open in the fall. $ 50,000,000 NYU campus is a true liberal arts university. Also in Doha, Qatar, M students study medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell, Engineering at Texas A &,International Politics at Georgetown, science and business and computer science at Carnegie Mellon. George Mason University has a campus in Ras Al Khaimah.

Georgia Tech offers degree programs in France, Italy, South Africa, Singapore and China, with expansion plans in India.

In addition to U.S. universities, Australian and British institutions also offer courses in English in India and China.

Proponents believe that will benefit foreign branches of U.S. universities, not onlyinstitutions, but also students from around the world. International students now have access to education and American at the same time, reduce costs and minimize culture shock. Universities may have its international presence to help the United States to build diplomatic relations, and gain global market.

Opponents argue that establishing campuses abroad diluted the American university system and creates a competitive disadvantage. Many criticize the bonafides of the degree of "American" as the majority of foreign teachers are in these positions, the local recruits.

While the historical study abroad / exchange programs and research collaborations with foreign educational institutions of the U.S. colleges and universities, the establishment of overseas offices is a novel experiment.

If "universities worldwide wave of the future? Universities really export of American higher education system in countries that have different socio-cultural contexts? What are the pros? What are the disadvantages? What do you think?
